Vivitar 810HD camcorder review
The Vivitar DVR 810HD is one of the least expensive “High Definition” digital camcorders on the market today, but is it a bargain buy or just cheap junk? I’d say it’s half and half. The 810HD looks, feels, and operates like a “real” camcorder costing hundreds more, but the video and audio quality are poor at best. The lower-res modes deliver about the same results as recording video on a low-end digital still photo camera (or even a good cell phone camera), and although “HD” mode does record at 1280×720 “720P” resolution, the image is pixellated and the unusually low 20 frames per second recording delivers smeary, jittery motion (a sample of this “HD” footage will be featured in my next video). I would only recommend this camcorder for children, so they can learn how a “real” digital flash memory camcorder operates, with its various manual controls (exposure, white balance, ISO speeds, etc.), without the expense of buying a “real” camcorder and then worrying about it getting lost or broken. The 810HD’s low-tech MJPEG files can be easily edited with any version of Windows Movie Maker or iMovie and then uploaded to YouTube, such as I did to create this video. But if you are just looking for a good inexpensive camcorder, spend a little bit more and get a model from a known brand with good reviews, such as the pocket-size Kodak Zi6 which is now commonly on sale for under 0. Needless to say, I am now returning this camcorder because it is of no use to me. (Don’t worry …

Best Video Camera for newbie amateur film maker on a budget?
I want to get into amateur film-making and I don’t have a clue what kind of camera to get. At first I fancied one of those big chunky shoulder cameras that they use on film-sets but I don’t really see the difference and I think I need something for a beginner. It needs to be able to take a bit of a beating because I’m going to be living in Uganda for 12 months next year (Where I hope to be doing most of my filming). It also needs to be within a budget – realistically 600 quid but I think I’ll stretch to a grand for this question just so I can see the variety of possibilities. I don’t really know what to look for in a camera but I want something that will look good when I upload and edit it (No grainy footage), has enough ‘pro-features’ for me to learn and muck about with, and is still fairly kind on a beginner. Any idea what I should be looking at, what features to look out for, or any good comparison or review websites? Any advice will be very much appreciated.
What's a good video camera? (see Q for details)?
Be great to hear some reviews and opinions from actual people than advertisements. I’m looking for a video camera that is:
- small-ish; as in not a bulky item, would love it to just fit in the average bag
- good battery life
- good amount of storage/memory
- preferably HD
Use: Mostly outdoors, not for professional use, but would be used a lot and needs to be able to handle it. Will be action shooting – lots of moving around, so one that adjusts to lights and focuses quickly.
Thanks.
oh forgot to add my budget. prefer it to be affordable. <0 unless theres a really good reason or it’s just over that. Definitely no more than 0

Which is the best digital point and shoot camera to buy currently?
Hi, I really need help to buy a digital camera asap. All the online reviews have only further confused me.My requirements are:
1. 7-8 megapixel
2. 3-4 optical zoom
3. LCD screen
4. Good night pictures
5. different shoot modes
6. video (optional)
7. sharp, bright pictures
8. anti shake
9. face detection
10. as compact a body as possible.
I used to have a fancy for sony cybershot models but am told they are not as good as canon or nikon. fuji has also been recommended. A salesman recommended either the fuji F40 or the nikon S500 or the canon IXUS950. Can anyone help please? I have a budget of up to 0 but don’t necessarily have to go all the way so long as I can get a good reliable compact camera that has all the latest features and gives me the best pictures.
I need a cheap digital camera that can take o.k. pictures, record video, and be carried around easily.?
I want a budget camera 0 or less. I’d like it to be small enough to fit in a purse/pocket, and take fair quality pictures. I’d also like if it recorded video. I want to be able to take it to school to take pictures whenever I can. I don’t want it to be more than 0 so if it gets stolen, it’s not the end of the world. I have a DSLR that was 0 so I don’t need to "step it up and get something better for more" or something like that. I have something way better, I just want one to carry around on a daily basis that has good reviews.
Thanks!
What kid of digital video camera should I get?
I’m a big fan of Canon when it comes to still cameras, but I’m looking at their line of video cameras and they seem to be a little over-priced and under-spec’ed, not to mention that a lot of the reviews aren’t so hot.
I’m depending on this to get me through grad school, which I just started this semester. I’m really getting into video next semester and I’ll be doing a documentary for my thesis. My budget is 0 – 0 but I could go up to 00 for the right camera. HD is a must and it has to be compatible with Adobe Premiere, Adobe AfterEffects and Final Cut Pro. I would prefer flash memory but tape is ok too. Definitely nothing that records directly on DVDs though!
Who makes the better PC laptop, HP, Dell, Hitachi, Fujitsu, or Lenovo?
I’ve been an HP customer for the last ten years and while their machines are really good, the support is sub-par.
I have owned a couple of Dell’s The machines aren’t bad but the support is excellent. I have heard very good things about Lenovo also.
Anyways, just my opinion. What are your thoughts and experiences on these brands because I am going to buy a new laptop in the next couple of weeks and my budget is ,000.
