Husband was attacked, police said attacker may be charged with 4th degree assault?

My husband commutes to and from work by bike. He was going back to work on his lunch break yesterday and a man coming out of Bellingham Hardwear Sales ran a stop sign, then was upset my husband was riding his bike in the road (which he had a right to be doing)… The driver then threatened my husband with his vehicle and acted like he was going to run him over and then swerved.

My husband of course got upset that this man was threatening him with his vehicle so he rode behind the man in the truck and gave the driver the finger. The driver got out of his car and attacked my husband. He stepped out of his vehicle and punched my husband in the face and did not even give my husband any time to defend himself. My husband fell backwards and then the man was on him hitting him in the face, then he threw my husband over a fence and was punching him in the back of the head.

Thank god the attacker saw a car coming up so he dropped my husband and ran to his truck and fled the scene. This really nice lady got out and went to see if my husband was okay and called the police. They did not get his license plate…

But LUCKILY the Hardwear Sales has a video system in their parking lot and they had part of what happened on video and the man had just bought something from them so they had his name and credit card number.

My husband is an honest person and straight up told the police that he gave the man the finger after he threatened him with his car and they have that on video along with the driver threatening him but because my husband was riding behind the guy in the truck they went off the camera view and did not catch the man attacking on camera.

But the woman who drove up on the man attacking acted as a witness.

Anyway, my husband has a broken nose, a busted lip, they had to glue his ear because there was not enough skin for stitches, he has blurry vision, he saw an optometrist because they thought it might be a detached retina but it wasn’t detached… It just must be injured, he had a minor brain bleed and a swollen jaw.

Anyway, my husband and I are going to the station today so he can sign papers allowing the police to access his medical records… But they have not arrested the man and said he may get 4th degree assault charges.

Why have they not arrested this man yet?!?!? And why only 4th Degree? My husband is spending Christmas Eve laid out on the couch in pain and will be miserable for Christmas. He will have to take off work, not to mention medical expenses, pain and injuries and the man fleeing the scene leaving my husband to bleed on the pavement… I was up all night because the Dr told me that my husband could sleep but I needed to check on him regularly and I am scared that this crazy, road rage psycho is still out there.

Not to mention he ONLY stopped punching my husband in the back of the head when he saw a car coming… Had that woman not come by my husband could be dead.

I am pissed, I don’t understand. This is unjust! When will they arrest him (they said they have not been able to get in "contact" with the attacker) Why contact him, just go to his house and arrest him. And why only 4th degree???

We will be leaving to the police station to sign those papers in a half hour and I am going to demand to know why they are taking this so lightly.

Also, does anyone know what penalty the attacker is likely to get for 4th degree assault? My husband is going to sue the attacker… we will need a lawyer and have no idea how to even go about trying to sue someone.

Any insight?

Thanks.
We’re in Washington State
So we saw the officer in person. The officer said that there are "procedures" he must follow before he can pick the attacker up. He also wanted a positive ID so he had my husband pick out his ID photo and he will have the witness do the same and then they will match it to the tape.

He said that the attacker will probably be picked up on Mon or Tue. He also said the most he can get is 4th degree because he did not have a weapon. I personally see threatening my husband with his car like a weapon but they do not… He beat my husabnd with his fists, not a weapon… And my husband will not suffer life long damage so 4th degree is all he can get.

I will be mostly satisfied when that man is arrested.

There are a lot of crazy people out there… I am just glad this didn’t end up any worse than it is.

Thank you everyone!
OMG JAIMIE! I am so sorry to hear about your son. That is HORRIBLE. 21 years old is NOT a child and not even close to being a fare match for a 9 year old. That is disgusting that the police did not arrest her right away, I hope everything turned out okay for you and your son. Your poor son must have been terrified.

what does AiAF on the Canon SD 600 mean? Thanks in advance :)?

and under video system, what is NTSC and PAL? I got this camera without a book, so don’t think me too ignorant, lol.

The videos I record are never compatible with my windows movie maker. How can I solve this?

I have a Canon Rebel and before I had a Canon point and shoot. My friend has a Canon as well and her videos are always compatible. We both have our cameras set to the video system NTSC but whenever I upload mine, it never works. Movie Maker always rejects it. I even recently downloaded Windows Live Movie Maker and have run into the same issue. Can anyone help?
The thing is, I don’t want to have to convert it every time. I just want them to be compatible with windows movie maker straight out of the camera. Maybe it’s an issue with my laptop?

Help with outdoor camera setup…?

Hi, i currently have dome cameras that are night vision and i would like to have each setup at the top of my house to see all four sides.(i am able to use a ladder to get up there.)
The problem is that i do not want wireless cameras and i have to run a thick cord around my house to get from inside the closet(video system place) to th outside and i do not want the cord to be too obvious.
What is the best way to get the wire from inside of the closet, and out to the top if the roof under the gutter? I am not too experienced in wiring through sheet rock and materials like that.
Should i go up through the ceiling to the attic and then out the ends of the house?

What do I need to get a church video system?

In our church we want to start projecting the worship and the preaching in the big projection screens but we don’t know what should we get so we can project the images and the lyrics at the same time. I know that we need a video mixer and some cameras but can someone help with some advice of what else should we get to have a proper video system. Our budget is around 15 thousand dollars. It would be good if we can record the preaching in video. Thank you and God Bless You,

What is the difference between PAL and NTSC system?

We live in Europe but I may get a good deal on a Sony NTSC high definition digital camera. If I convert NTSC into PAL will I lose any frames, or what exactly will happen to the quality? What is it I will experience after conversion? Please explain it to me concerning the fact that I have very little knowledge about video systems. Will it be useful to buy it even though our video system is PAL?
Thank you

Can I create a night vision video camera by using an IR Filter and an IR illuminator?

Hello. I have the need to create a video system that is able to see clearly in a totally darkened room. Without spending a LOT of money to transition our existing video system to a dedicated night-vision system, would I be able to achieve the same functionality by using a commercially available IR filter and external IR illuminator?

I have found several IR filter adapters on ebay of varying lens sizes, and wavelengths (720nm through 940nm), that claim to filter roughly 99.6% of visible light. I have also found countless external IR illuminators on ebay as well. The video camera that needs to have this functionality has a 37mm screw bezel on the lens, and I have found a few 37mm IR filters. It seems to be an ideal match.

Can any knowledgeable individual fill me in on if such a conversion is possible using a screw-on IR filter and an IR illuminator?? Just to clarify, I am not looking to purchase a new video camera. I simply would like to know if an IR filter plus an IR illuminator would achieve night vision on a video camera that does not have built-in night vision functionality. If so, what criteria should I be looking for in an IR filter (i.e. – wavelength differences, etc.).

Thanks so much!!
