HELP!- Playing Videos?

I have a camera which takes videos into Quick Time Format (MPEG-4 or something like that). I’ve put the video onto my computer and i’ve tried to play it on Quick Time but it jumps and the sound goes out of sync. Then I tried playing it on Nero and Windows Media Player but the same thing happens (jumping). Does anyone know what is wrong? Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

It is Windows XP and has a 10gb Hard Drive and a 40gb Hard Drive. All the programs are on the 10gb Hard Drive, leaving 2gb left on it. Perhaps I need to put the programs and videos on the 40gb Hard Drive? Or is it something to do with RAM?

This is the message that appears on Nero before it plays: "On some system configurations the playback of high resolution video files could lead to unexpected results. Are you sure you want to continue?

Thanks!
The computer has 1GB of RAM and I’ve just tried playing a normal QuickTime video in normal quality from my camera, which plays fine. So its just High Definition Mode Videos from my camera that are jumping (although it isn’t full HD, its HD (1280 × 720)

Where can I find a movie maker/video editing program?

I have some videos and pictures of the planets that I have taken through my telescope both through my regular video camera and through my celestron neximage imager.

All of the videos are saved and can be viewed as video files and all of the pictures have been saved and can be viewed as pictures [jpg i think]

For some reason the videos arent working on my windows video maker…I am on a windows 7 laptop right now, but even on my windows XP computer the videos werent compatable with my windows movie maker there either.

The video program for my video camera works for the videos i have recorded through the camera BUT I cant add in the images or video that i took through my Celestron neximage telescope imager. The problem with this is I am doing a video of the solar system each planet in order, video and pics of each.

I am basically looking for a free movie making/ video editing program that would accept all of my video and picture files without hassle.

Where can I find a program good enough for this, again it NEEDS TO BE FREE.

I have nortons 06 system works and frankly I do not think that program has helped me one bit this past year. Any suggestions.
By the way these files are on a storage drive. the files on my c drive are ok.
I am working in windows xp, and these programs work fine when I am using a file from my c drive, it seems like all the files on my e drive are corrupted. I just tried to open a jpeg file in 3 other programs and none will recognize it. the most info I got was from photoshop cs and it stated a (unknown or invalid jpeg marker)
salman
I tried what you said I moved a picture from my e drive to my c drive and when it transfered it is now listed as a quiktime file. psp cs would not open it so I tried to open it in quiktime and it said it was not a video file.

Does the most recent version of Yahoo Toolbar have a pop-up blocker?

My current pop-up blocker that comes preloaded on IE is acting weird. I’ve currently got it set on the strictest of settings (used to be on the middle setting) and it’s turned on but it’s allowing an unusually high amount of pop-ups to get through. Some are pages are just completely random but most of them are related to whatever search I made in either google or yahoo and I have to close the stupid window that opened up in full screen in front of the window I’m trying to work with. I understand some unwanted pop ups get though and not all are going to be stopped but this is just getting ridiculous.

In an attempt to remedy the situation, I downloaded the Yahoo Toolbar because I remembering it having a pop-up blocker in the past but I’m unable to find it in this newest version. If there is one, could you tell me how to find it. Also, I’m open to hearing other ideas as to how the pop-ups are getting through and how I can stop them.

As far as downloads are concerned, the only major one I remember since January is a virus scanner from Microsoft Security Essentials that my hubby put on it when he noticed my lap top running slow (hasn’t been since he worked with it) and some downloads from a CD to view some video clips I made with my video camera. I have an ASUS Eee PC 901 with the Windows XP operating system if that helps too. If more information is required to answer the question, I’ll do my best to provide it. Thanks.

Windows XP and Canon XH A1?

HELP!
I recently re-installed my Windows operating system because I was having many many problems. I have a Canon XH A1 hd video camera & Windows XP SP2 and was able (before the reinstall) to capture video to my computer. Now that I reinstalled my computer will not recognize the camera. I do not have any software for the camera that needs to be installed so I can not figure why the camera knows that it is hooked up to the computer but the computer can not see the camera.
Any help would be appreciated. Please do not tell me I need a MAC I already know – I just can not afford it right now.

Why Does Windows XP Crash With AVI Files?

I’ve been having a problem with Windows XP for the last couple of months, and I’ve finally gotten around to trying to fix it.

Here’s the problem:
Whenever I open a folder with certain .AVI files (like movies) it crashes and explorer closes and starts up again. Video clips from a digital camera do not cause it to crash however.

When the files are on my desktop, the system does not crash.

Does anyone know why it’s doing that and how I can fix it?
I already have VLC as my default media player.
The files are locally on my hard-drive (but I have 2 partitions if it makes a difference).

What steps can be taken to fix trouble after system restore?

System details: Gateway E4100, Windows XP Professional. No Cd’s are available, it was purchased second-hand pre-loaded. I was faced with an endless cycle of shutdown/restarts after a bootup error, (that I couldn’t read until I recorded with my camera, and stopped at a certain frame), "C0000218". In order to get into windows, I restored the registry using "Ultimate Bootup CD 4 Win" and restored it to the oldest restore point available (this may have been a mistake, for it wasn’t in Windows, and the restore can’t be undone). This got me into windows, and for the most part things are working, HOWEVER: The entire add/remove programs list is gone; I had to reinstall the sound/video/LAN drivers; and programs like Office 2003 won’t open, saying things like "program is not installed for current user". I am aware of a few steps to repair the windows registry using the setup disk, only I don’t have one (as the system was pre-loaded). I tried to make a setup CD but there is no I386 folder. Help!

Canon HV20 Camcorder can't Capture Video on my computer?

I have a Canon HV20 camcorder, along with several tapes of recorded video. I have a firewire cable and a firewire card (both recently bought) installed. When all connected, the camera shows a "HDV/DV" icon on the screen, meaning that it knows the cord and the card are there. When the camera is turned on or plugged into the computer, Windows XP acknowledges this with that "ping" that shows it recognizes new hardware.

Yes with Windows Movie Maker, and MooGear DV Capture (random software i tried after WMM didn’t work), they say there is no recording device available when I try to capture software.

Is this more likely a bad firewire card, bad camcorder, or is my operating system just funky?
I am running Windows XP SP3, sorry. I’ll have to look at my work computer on monday for the version of windows movie maker.

Thanks to little dog for clearing up the DV vs. HDV thing. Is it possible to import as DV even if the recording is in HDV?

The videos are only really for archive purposes, and I don’t need high quality video. I’ll remember to record in DV quality in the future.
